Hinatazaka46 Pilgrimage: Miyazaki Visits and Two Music Video Locations

Visit Aoshima Shrine, then look out over the ridged shore known as the Devil's Washboard that surrounds the island. Miyazaki still has places that Hinatazaka46 members walked through for television programs and official videos. At Miyazaki Phoenix Zoo, you can also see the animal exhibits that became settings for improvised comedy challenges on the group's own show, Hinatazaka de Aimashou.

This guide brings together seven places in Miyazaki and two music video locations: the colorful Site of Reversible Destiny in Yoro, Gifu, and Akibadai Park Pool in Kanagawa. Across these nine stops, we connect the 2024 Hinata Fes venue and shops visited by members to the projects that brought them there. The 2026 festival was canceled.

Seven Miyazaki Stops and Two Music Video Locations

The connection with Miyazaki began in 2019, when the group adopted the name Hinatazaka46. The word hinata, meaning a sunny place, linked the new name with the prefecture's slogan, 'Miyazaki, Japan's sunny place.' A location shoot in Miyazaki for the group's own television show, Hinatazaka de Aimashou, later that year led to an ongoing relationship. In 2024, members appeared on posters supporting all 26 municipalities in the prefecture. The group was also appointed Miyazaki Ambassadors, and Hinata Fes took place there in September of the same year.

Miyazaki City's official pilgrimage map covers three areas: the city center, Hitotsuba, and Aoshima–Kibana. It introduces places visited by members across the city, including Aoshima Shrine, Phoenix Zoo, and Sun Marine Stadium Miyazaki, connecting shrine visits with locations used in the television show.

1Aoshima Shrine | A Visit to Give Thanks

Illustration of a woman visiting the black-latticed Motomiya at Aoshima Shrine amid subtropical trees

Mikuni Takahashi and Rio Shimizu visited Aoshima Shrine to give thanks following Hinata Fes. In another visit shown in an official Hinatazaka Channel video released on December 5, 2025, third-generation member Marie Morimoto and fourth-generation member Tamaki Ishizuka explored Aoshima the day after the Fukuoka date of the MONSTER GROOVE arena tour. They sampled local food and visited the illuminated shrine. If you want to see the evening lighting, check that year's dates and permitted visiting hours in advance.

The ridges and hollows in the rocks all around Aoshima are known as the Devil's Washboard. The formations have been designated a national natural monument under the name referring to Aoshima's uplifted seabed and unusual traces of wave erosion. Here, sandstone and mudstone are stacked in alternating layers belonging to the Miyazaki Group. As waves wore away layers of different hardness, some rock remained standing above the rest, creating the closely spaced ridges that resemble a washboard. At low tide, a strip of rock roughly 20 to 100 meters wide emerges. How much of this landscape you can see therefore changes as the tide rises and falls.

The usual opening hours are from 6 a.m. until sunset. The amulet office opens at 8 a.m. in summer and 8:30 a.m. in winter, closing at 5 p.m. in either season. The night visit in the video is not available under the same conditions as an ordinary daytime visit. In daylight, you can take in the rock patterns and the island's greenery before worshipping at the shrine, experiencing both the coast and the precinct.

2Phoenix Zoo | Comedy Challenges Among the Animals

Illustration of giraffes and zebras at Miyazaki Phoenix Zoo

During the 2019 Miyazaki shoot for Hinatazaka de Aimashou, members joined the show's hosts, comedy duo Audrey, at Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo. They competed in improvised joke-answer challenges in front of the chimpanzee enclosure. The zoo usually opens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m., and closes on Wednesdays. Seasonal arrangements and events can change the schedule, so check the zoo's official guidance before visiting.

In her official blog dated November 13, 2019, Hinano Kamimura looked back on the Miyazaki location shoot, which had been shown over three consecutive weekly broadcasts. One memory was the comedy answer she gave in front of Midori, an Asian elephant. When she saw her own answer on the broadcast, she found herself laughing at it. She also wrote about seeing the red pandas on the way back and remembering how cute they were.

The zoo became a return stop in 2023, when the Higashimura Otokomae Gundan team traveled to Miyazaki as a reward. The city map records both visits, bringing the 2019 comedy challenges and the later return together at one facility. Ordinary admission for high school students and adults is ¥840. The zoo also announces elephant talks and animal feeding times; check the entrance information or official schedule for the animals you hope to see that day.

3Sun Marine Stadium | The Baseball Ground That Hosted the 2024 Festival

Illustration of two women visiting the stands at Sun Marine Stadium Miyazaki

Hinata Fes 2024 took place on September 7 and 8 at Hinata Miyazaki Prefectural Sports Park and Hinata Sun Marine Stadium Miyazaki. Previously, protection of the stadium's natural grass had prevented events other than baseball. New turf-management techniques and cooperation among those involved enabled its first live concert. The show included water-shot effects, talk segments about Miyazaki, and an enormous rainbow formed by the audience's penlights. Hinata Fes 2026, planned for September 5 and 6, was canceled in an announcement on September 2 that prioritized safety.

Sources: Miyazaki Prefecture: The Stadium's First Concert and Its Staging (in Japanese) / Hinata Fes 2024: Venue Guide (in Japanese) / Official Announcement Canceling the 2026 Festival (in Japanese)

From outside, the stadium has an inverted-cone shape designed to reduce its imposing appearance and fit the surrounding scenery. According to the operator's facility guide, its lighting towers evoke the Washingtonia palms associated with Miyazaki. The seating uses the red of the sun and the blue of the sea and sky. Even the seat colors visible in concert footage reflect the host location.

The prefecture lists this stadium among facilities that individuals and groups can visit. Walking around the park and entering the stadium are separate activities, however. Contact the management office about the day's use and whether an interior visit is possible. After the concert, an official member blog also introduced the 'Hina-reha in Hinata Fes 2024' dance video filmed inside. It provides another way to compare a record of the performance with a stadium ordinarily used for sport.

4Site of Reversible Destiny — Yoro | The Setting of ‘JOYFUL LOVE’

Illustration of colorful buildings and uneven ground at the Site of Reversible Destiny, Yoro Park

The music video for 'JOYFUL LOVE' was filmed at the Site of Reversible Destiny in Yoro Town, Gifu Prefecture. This is an artwork designed to be experienced by moving through it, conceived by Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins. Its brightly colored buildings and terrain full of rises and dips provided the setting for the video. Among these spaces are the Critical Resemblance House, whose roof takes the shape of Gifu Prefecture, and the Elliptical Field, where pavilions are scattered across hills and hollows.

Visitors experience the work by walking through the grounds and adjusting their balance. Opening hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m. Adult admission is ¥850. The site closes on Tuesdays, or the following day when Tuesday is a public holiday, and from December 29 to January 3. Wear shoes suitable for walking over its many steep slopes and changes in level.

If the video's colors stay with you, look at the interior and exterior of the Reversible Destiny Office, too. Its 24 exterior colors continue inside, where the angle of natural light changes the appearance of the space. In the Critical Resemblance House, the ceiling carries an inverted version of the first floor. Looking up reveals the space below: a feature to experience by moving your own body, as well as by pausing and studying the video.

In the outdoor Elliptical Field, nine pavilions are scattered across the grounds, with 148 winding paths connecting the spaces between them. Something can disappear from view as you climb a hill, then become visible again when you descend into a hollow. The music video may be what brings you here, but the artwork also invites you to enjoy a landscape that rearranges itself as your position changes. The official video's credits name Kazuma Ikeda as director, CRE8BOY as choreographers, and Yoro Park as a location supporter, providing a record of the connection between the song and this particular place.

5Akibadai Park Pool | The Water in ‘Mitakotonai Mamono’

Illustration of the silver building at Akibadai Park Pool

The fourth-generation members' dance against a blue outdoor pool in 'Mitakotonai Mamono' was filmed at Akibadai Park Pool in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. The pool edge, water, and broad sky behind them share the frame, giving the sequence an open, spacious setting.

The facility has a year-round indoor 25-meter pool and summer outdoor facilities, including a 50-meter pool and a flowing pool. Outdoor use runs from July 1 through August 31, the first week of September, and September's second weekend. An autumn or winter visit does not include access to the outdoor pools; choose a summer opening day if you also want to swim. Indoor hours are generally 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with last admission at 7:30 p.m. Monday is the usual closing day, with exceptions for public holidays and the summer vacation period. Check the official operating calendar.

Production company P.I.C.S. lists Hayato Ando as both director and editor, with choreography by CRE8BOY. The location-support credits name Tone Town Film Commission alongside Akibadai Pool. The pool's inclusion in those credits therefore does not mean that every scene in the video was filmed at this one facility. When you watch it again, look at how the group dance makes use of the broad pool area and how those sequences alternate with scenes of members' expressions in other settings. This gives each filming location a different role within the finished video.

Kumi Sasaki, Mirei Sasaki, and Haruka Yamashita rented electric bicycles here during a project for the group's official YouTube channel. The video's title translates as 'We Went to Japan's Sunny Place to Make a Miyazaki Festival Happen! [Miyazaki Food & Yomiuri Giants Training Camp].' The city's official map also lists the facility as a stop on this journey toward holding a festival in Miyazaki. Visitors can rent E-bikes, or electric-assist bicycles, for a ride along the Aoshima coastline. Entry to the park is free, and the gates are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The businesses and activity programs inside have separate operating days and reception hours, so check the information for the specific experience you plan to use.

A 2025 report by local magazine Town Miyazaki introduced the shop's fish, products from around the prefecture, and bread made on the premises. At the time of that report, hours were 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with Wednesday closures. Check current opening days and selection with the store. Beyond the lobster bought on the show, it is a place to look for a meal or something to take home.

FM Aoshima's October 20, 2026 announcement also lists Bon Delice as a distribution point for the AOSHIMAP neighborhood walking map. An English edition followed the Japanese version, providing another way to find local information. Miyazaki on Television: Quizzes, Meals, and a Return to the Beach

2019: Challenges in Baseball Uniforms

During the 2019 Miyazaki shoot for Hinatazaka de Aimashou, the members were divided into red and white teams according to the order in which they arrived. The red team arrived first and received uniforms bearing the HINATA logo. Those who arrived later, on the white team, were given plain white uniforms with a rule that they had to draw the designs themselves. Hinano Kamimura belonged to the white team. Looking back, she expressed a little regret that she had not arrived sooner, while also saying that she had grown attached to the uniform she decorated by hand.

After a spinning-bat challenge at Sun Beach Hitotsuba and comedy games at Phoenix Zoo, the group answered baseball and Miyazaki quizzes in the parking lot of Tonkatsu Shino. The victorious white team ate pork-cutlet set meals and an off-menu shabu-shabu dish. Kamimura recalled trying chives wrapped in meat for the first time. Members' names also appeared on the Sun Marine Stadium scoreboard, and Governor Shunji Kono judged a challenge in which they competed to suggest adult allure in a single line. At their hotel, the Sheraton Grande Ocean Resort, they filmed a promotional video directed by host Toshiaki Kasuga of Audrey. Kamimura also recorded a memory of eating bread and scrambled eggs with Hina Kawata and Miku Kanemura after filming.

A Thank-You Message at Miyazaki Broadcasting

Hinano Kamimura was pleased that Hinatazaka de Aimashou had begun airing in Miyazaki, and visited a special booth set up at Miyazaki Broadcasting. There she read messages sent by local Ohisama, the nickname for Hinatazaka46 fans. Those messages helped her feel that people were supporting the group even from far away. The members left messages of thanks and a poster bearing their signatures. Her account also recalls a dance performance by the three Miyazaki-ken, the prefecture's symbolic dog mascots. Wearing headpieces based on a Hyuganatsu citrus fruit, a phoenix palm, and local chicken, they performed dances to 'Kyun' and 'Doremisollasido.'

2023: The Sports-Day Winners Return

In 2023, the members of the Higashimura Otokomae Gundan team returned to Miyazaki for a reward location shoot after winning the television show's sports-day competition. Haruka Yamashita, a fourth-generation member who joined the trip, wrote about it in her blog. It was only her second visit to Miyazaki: her first had been to film the teaser movie introducing the fourth generation. This time, she recalled enjoying a spinning-bat game on the beach, a barbecue, and shaved ice.

Hinata Fes 2024 and Miyazaki’s Welcome

At the 2024 festival, activity booths and food businesses filled Hinata Expo inside the park, while welcome decorations spread through the city and its stations. Here is a look back at the local collaborations from that event.

Hinata Expo: Games, Puzzles, and a Daikon-Drying Rack

Hinata Expo at Hinata Fes 2024 was an open space that people could enter without a concert ticket. Ohisama traveling from around Japan and local people who normally use the park could share the same venue's local-business and municipal booths, television-show area, photo panels, and digital stamp activity.

Kicking Balls and Jumping with Members: Games from the Show

The Hinatazaka de Aimashou area offered a soccer target game devised by Sumire Miyachi, free to play with a numbered participation ticket. Players took three kicks; hitting different targets triggered members' voice messages, and completing a bingo line earned a prize. A photo booth devised by Rio Shimizu let visitors jump beside panels of members in midair. Displays of familiar show sets, including the hosts' table and sushi cart, were also planned.

In a special parade through the park, members marched to live music from the Miyazaki Gakuen High School wind ensemble. Visitors without concert tickets could watch and take photographs from the route. After the performances, members used their official blogs to thank the student musicians, local spectators along the route, and operating staff.

Sources: Official Blog: Thanks to Miyazaki Gakuen and Local Residents (in Japanese)

Collecting Members’ Voices Through Panel QR Codes

Life-size member panels at the venue carried QR codes for fan-club members. Scanning them registered each member's icon and an exclusive voice message on a dedicated page as part of a digital stamp activity. The University of Miyazaki's local-exhibition booth introduced taglines that Akari Nibu and Mikuni Takahashi had given the university's dairy cows, along with cherry-salmon posters featuring their drawings. With support from a local company, the booth drew all its electricity from an electric vehicle and used environmentally considerate containers. The university reported plans to donate some proceeds to a tree-planting organization near the venue. Municipal booths from Miyazaki Prefecture, Miyazaki City, Miyakonojo, and Hyuga introduced local products and sightseeing destinations.

An Original Puzzle Trail Through the Venue

The original fan-club-only puzzle activity began with a kit collected at a booth. Participants scanned its code to watch an opening video, then used a dedicated LINE account while exploring the venue and solving questions. Some questions differed between September 7 and 8. Completing the challenge earned a limited sticker, making it an activity that visitors could enjoy around the venue even without a concert ticket.

Hanging Replica Daikon on a Rack Built by Local Farmers

The Ohisama Daikon Yagura took its inspiration from the racks of drying daikon that are a Miyazaki winter sight. The participation project invited people to hang replica radishes on a rack assembled by local farmers, with rainbow illumination at night. Its recruitment announcement set a target of 4,600 replicas. People unable to travel could also take part, with one replica displayed for each contribution. Announced thank-you gifts included pickles made using Miyazaki-grown dried daikon, shipped to participants.

Festival Food Developed by Members and Miyazaki Businesses

The limited festival menus began with the food-development battle on the advance Hinatazaka 46-hour TV stream. Miyazaki's Ohisama study group and local restaurants turned members' ideas into trial dishes and then products. Kurobei made Kumi Sasaki's Gyoza no Captain using ingredients including green pepper and taro. The Mochimaruko Tartar Chicken Burger associated with Akari Nibu and Hinano Kamimura used tartar sauce containing Miyazaki grapefruit and a branded design based on handwriting. The venue also offered Mana Takase's Manafii special spicy soupless noodles and Sumire Miyachi's Smile Smile Sumi-rainbow shaved ice.

The 2024 Menus Sold Beyond the Venue

The collaborations extended to stores outside the park. They included Hina Kawata's Miyazaki-ken pancakes at Riviere, Sumire Miyachi's rainbow shaved ice at Natech, Miku Kanemura's fried chicken at Matsuri no Oto, and Rina Watanabe's member-color soda at Ammy. Souvenir sweets included Ohisama baumkuchen, Ohisama financiers, and cheese manju in plain and natto flavors. Alongside the venue's Ohisama SHOP, outlets included Miyazaki Airport, Aoshimaya, and the interiors of Miyazaki Car Ferry ships. These were limited projects during the 2024 festival, rather than a guide to products routinely available now.

Watching the Food Develop on the 46-Hour Stream

Before the festival, Hinatazaka 46-hour TV streamed on official YouTube from the evening of June 21 to the evening of June 23, 2024. Day two, June 22, featured the Hinata Fes Food Development Battle and a Miyazaki-wide quiz. The Day 2 archive was released on June 25, letting viewers follow how the collaboration dishes eventually offered in Miyazaki came about.

The 2024 Welcome: Stations, City Publications, and Street Curtains

During the 2024 festival period, JR Kyushu decorated Hyugashi Station as Hinatazaka46 Station for a limited time, with commemorative tickets and a departure ceremony. Yoko Shogenji and Hina Kawata appeared in the August 2024 issue of Miyazaki City's public-information magazine. A giant entrance curtain hung in the downtown Ichibangai shopping street until September 10, and welcome flags and banners appeared in the Tachibana-dori arcade, at the airport, and around the sports park. A low-speed electric Guruppy vehicle carried a wrap with members' signatures until September 13. City hall hosted a special booth until September 17. A later University of Miyazaki analysis, conducted with the organizer's cooperation, estimated the economic ripple effect of Hinata Fes 2024 at about ¥2.9 billion.

From Hiragana Keyaki to the Miyazaki Connection

Hinatazaka46's predecessor, Hiragana Keyakizaka46, began in 2015 with Neru Nagahama alone. Eleven first-generation members joined in 2016, launching the group's full activities. After the Hiragana Omotenashikai event at Akasaka BLITZ, a national tour beginning at Zepp Tokyo, and three days at Nippon Budokan, the group changed its name to Hinatazaka46 in February 2019.

Hinata Fes 2026 Was Canceled

Hinata Fes 2026, scheduled for September 5 and 6, was canceled in an announcement on September 2. The decision prioritized safety after considering the weather forecast, audience travel, venue construction plans, traffic effects, and other factors together.

A new local collaboration was announced on October 21, 2026. The plan distributes 26 wooden boards originally intended for the festival venue among tourism facilities and other locations in Miyazaki's 26 municipalities. Inspired by the Shichifukutokuju Bangi at Aratate Shrine in Takachiho, the displays are also scheduled to include boards printed with each member's message and signature.

The planned display period is October 30, 2026 through February 28, 2027. The prefecture's tie-in posters will also remain on display through that end date. This is a new project taking elements of the canceled 2026 event into local communities, rather than the 2024 welcome decorations remaining in place. Consult the official special guide for the individual destinations.

The Oshi Lab Note: Making Local Businesses Partners in Product Development

For Hinata Fes 2024, the Miyazaki Ohisama study group and local restaurants developed festival food from the members' ideas. Official announcements listed dishes offered in city restaurants as well as at the venue, while related merchandise was sold at locations including the airport and ferries. Local businesses helped make products, alongside putting up welcome decorations, and sales locations extended along visitors' travel routes. The project brought the members' ideas and local producers' work together in tangible goods.

To assess the local effect, we would look beyond concert attendance to which businesses provided what. In a joint development project, agreeing on taste, price, preparation volumes, and serving time with the restaurants is part of the work. Reviewing each business's sales, workload, and effects on regular customers afterward could inform future collaborations. The dishes and sales locations here are examples from 2024, not a claim that the same products remain available. Whether the project increased local sales also needs to be assessed against actual sales records.
